Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery – Site Accessibility

The following information is provided in order to help you plan your visit and ensure you have a safe, relaxed and enjoyable time with us. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our office on 01491 638 330.

Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery is based in a remote ‘Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, on an old farm estate with some of the buildings dating back to the 18th century. The site has been restored over the years with many of its original features retained.

Parking

There is a large car park across the road from the main site. There are no marked parking spaces and no designated ‘blue badge’ bays. We are happy to allow vehicle access onto the site for drop off / pick up purposes, but would request that cars are then parked in the main car park for the duration of your visit.

Toilets

There is one fully adapted mobility friendly toilet accessed off the main courtyard. The main toilet facilities are located inside our barn and are accessed down a flight of 3 steps.

Tours & Tastings

The Tours & Tasting experience includes visits to the brewery, vineyard (weather permitting), grape press, and bottling hall. The distances between these areas is relatively short but does require standing for approximately 10 minutes at each area during the Tour Guide’s presentation. Collapsible chairs can be requested from your Tour Guide if required. The tasting session is seated in our Tasting Room.

Movement around the site does involve navigating across a large cobbled courtyard, over a short ramp and through narrow doorways. Access to the vineyard is across a lawned garden. We find that this can generally be achieved safely with most standard manual wheelchairs. Mobility scooters and large specially adapted or electrically propelled wheelchairs may not be suitable. We do have our own manual wheelchair that can be provided on request. In poor weather, or when the lawn is very wet, it may not be possible for wheelchair access to the vineyard.

Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

We have 4 bedrooms in the main farmhouse. These are all located on the first floor accessed by a standard flight of 13 stairs. Our Pool House Suite is located in the gardens, accessed across a lawn, with one step up into the room.

Dogs

Whilst we are happy to welcome well behaved dogs onto the site we are not able to allow dogs into our shop, or production areas on tours, as these are governed by food hygiene legislation.

Children

Our Tours and Tasting experiences are 2 hours long and clearly focused at an adult audience. As such they are not really suitable for children, no matter how well behaved. To ensure your entire tour group have an enjoyable experience, we would ask that you do not bring babies or children under 18 years of age on Tours & Tastings.
